MASA Records
MASA Records is a small, sputtering, not-for-profit, DIY cdr and cassette label based out of beautiful Cascadia. The label seeks to donate most and sometimes all of the money brought in from the sale of releases to various causes and charities with social, political, cultural and community-based concerns. To date the label (through releases and benefit shows) has raised over $10,277 for causes chosen by MASA and MASA artists. The label has been around for 13 years and has close to 85 releases, many of which can be found online for free in their entirety. We are currently giving away over 180 releases for free in 2012 (so see our bandcamp and arhive.org site) A list of some artists that have released with MASA include: Your Heart Breaks, 1985, autococoon, Alaskas, Go Slowpoke, Dashel Schueler, Dear Nora, Rat Riot, Herr Jazz, Real Live Tigers, Sorry, Palisades, Crystal Pastures (feat. just dropped in time for tour is this new autococoon album! it’s a re-issue of the awesome 2010 album “Ponies Float” with a b-side collection of 17 BONUS tracks spanning the years leading up to and follow the release of the initial album. It is a diverse collection of recordings from intimate acoustic bedroom songs to low-fi four-tracked dance hits to field recordings from Caitlin’s recent trips to Central America.
